About This Piece

Murugan Set with Valli & Deivayanai | Handcrafted Panchaloha Idols | Polished Finish

This Murugan set with Valli and Deivayanai is cast in Panchaloha, the sacred five-metal alloy used in South Indian temple iconography for over a millennium, and stands at 4.75 inches in height as a composed trio on individual tiered square bases. Lord Murugan occupies the central position, rendered in a four-armed standing form holding his vel, while Valli and Deivayanai flank him on either side in elegant tribhanga postures, each figure detailed with traditional jewelry, draped garments with incised textile patterns, and tall mukuta crowns.

Each figure in this set has been individually hand-cast and finished, with the surface detailing — the layered ornamentation at the chest, the fine lines of the lower garments, the molded bases — worked by hand using chisels and files after the initial cast is cooled and removed. This kind of refined finishing is what separates a sculptural idol from a rough casting, and it demands considerable skill to execute consistently across three separate pieces meant to read as a unified group.

In South Indian devotional tradition, Murugan is never considered complete without both consorts. Valli represents earthly devotion and the bhakti of the common seeker, while Deivayanai embodies the divine feminine in its celestial form. Together, the three figures represent the full expression of Murugan's grace — martial power, compassion, and union.

Panchaloha is an alloy composed traditionally of gold, silver, copper, iron, and lead or zinc in prescribed proportions, and it carries specific ritual significance in Agamic temple traditions. It is dense, workable, and acquires a warm, darkened tone over time with regular use in worship.

The polished finish gives this set a bright, silver-toned surface that brings out the sculptural detail clearly across all three figures. As with all handcrafted Panchaloha work, minor variation in surface tone and texture between pieces is inherent to the process and reflects the nature of hand finishing.

This set is suited for a home puja room, a dedicated altar space, or as a considered gift for occasions tied to South Indian devotional practice.

Shipping & Care

How We Pack It

Every idol is individually wrapped in soft cloth and nestled in foam casing inside a double-walled corrugated box. We have shipped to 25+ countries without a single breakage complaint.

Orders are dispatched within 2-3 working days. Domestic delivery takes 5-7 days. International shipping takes 10-15 working days via tracked courier.

How to Care For It

Wipe regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners, acidic solutions, or abrasive pads. For occasional deep cleaning, use warm water and mild soap — dry immediately after.

Brass and Panchaloha naturally develop patina over time. If you prefer the original finish, apply a thin coat of coconut oil monthly.
