Bring home the sacred presence of Lord Shiva from Tiruvannamalai with this 3-inch Annamalaiyar lingam. Handcast in the traditional South Indian Panchaloha alloy (copper, zinc, tin, silver, and gold), it carries auspicious energy and a warm, lasting sheen. The smooth lingam is framed by layered kavacham-style detailing and crowned by a protective multi-hooded naga—echoing the temple aesthetic of Arunachaleswarar. The compact, temple-style base keeps it stable while the rich textures give it a refined devotional look. Perfect for home puja rooms, meditation corners, office desks, and travel altars. Especially meaningful during Karthigai Deepam and Pradosham, this idol invites calm, clarity, and Shiva’s protective grace wherever it is placed. Note: At Cosmic Studio, every sculpture is individually handcrafted, ensuring no two pieces are exactly alike. Minor variations in color, texture, and detailing are a natural result of the artisanal process and are considered marks of authenticity. These unique characteristics, along with potential differences in lighting and screen displays, may cause the product to appear slightly different from the images shown.

About This Piece

3″ Annamalaiyar Arunachaleswarar Lingam with Naga Hood | Handcrafted Panchaloha

This 3-inch Annamalaiyar Arunachaleswarar Lingam, measuring 3" H x 2.5" W x 1" D and weighing 350 grams, is handcast in Panchaloha — the traditional South Indian sacred alloy composed of copper, zinc, tin, silver, and gold — and finished with a polished surface that gives the piece its warm, silver-toned sheen visible in the image.

The form follows the kavacham iconographic tradition, in which the Shiva Lingam is presented not as a bare form but adorned with layered ritual ornamentation as seen on the deity within the sanctum. The piece features a central lingam encased in concentric, layered kavacham detailing — rendered with beaded borders, chevron patterning, and stacked necklace-like forms that replicate the ceremonial dressing of the Arunachaleswarar temple murti. Above the lingam rises a multi-hooded naga canopy with finely cast hood spreads and a beaded crown, providing the characteristic protective silhouette associated with this iconographic form. The base is structured and temple-style, providing stability while continuing the architectural register of the composition.

Annamalaiyar, the presiding form of Shiva at Tiruvannamalai, is identified with the element of fire and the sacred hill of Arunachala. In Shaiva tradition, this form carries particular significance during Karthigai Deepam and Pradosham observances, when the presence of an Arunachaleswarar Lingam in the home is considered deeply auspicious.

Panchaloha has been the canonical material for South Indian temple idols for centuries. The five-metal composition is valued not only for its religious significance but for its density, workability, and the warm, lasting tone it develops over time. At 350 grams, this piece carries a substantial feel appropriate to its scale.

The polished finish produces the bright, silver-warm surface visible in the image. Because the piece is individually handcast and hand-finished, minor variation in surface texture and tone from one casting to another is natural and expected.

This Lingam is suited for a home puja room, a personal altar, or as a considered devotional gift, particularly for those with a connection to Tiruvannamalai or Shaiva practice.

How to Care For It

Wipe regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners, acidic solutions, or abrasive pads. For occasional deep cleaning, use warm water and mild soap — dry immediately after.

Brass and Panchaloha naturally develop patina over time. If you prefer the original finish, apply a thin coat of coconut oil monthly.
