Bring home the sacred presence of Lord Shiva from Tiruvannamalai with this 3-inch Annamalaiyar lingam. Handcast in the traditional South Indian Panchaloha alloy (copper, zinc, tin, silver, and gold), it carries auspicious energy and a warm, lasting sheen. The smooth lingam is framed by layered kavacham-style detailing and crowned by a protective multi-hooded naga—echoing the temple aesthetic of Arunachaleswarar. The compact, temple-style base keeps it stable while the rich textures give it a refined devotional look. Perfect for home puja rooms, meditation corners, office desks, and travel altars. Especially meaningful during Karthigai Deepam and Pradosham, this idol invites calm, clarity, and Shiva’s protective grace wherever it is placed. Note: At Cosmic Studio, every sculpture is individually handcrafted, ensuring no two pieces are exactly alike. Minor variations in color, texture, and detailing are a natural result of the artisanal process and are considered marks of authenticity. These unique characteristics, along with potential differences in lighting and screen displays, may cause the product to appear slightly different from the images shown.

About This Piece

3″ Annamalaiyar Arunachaleswarar Lingam with Naga Hood | Handcrafted Panchaloha | Green Patina

This 3-inch Annamalaiyar Arunachaleswarar Lingam, measuring 3" H x 2.5" W x 1" D and weighing 350 grams, is handcast in Panchaloha — the traditional South Indian alloy composed of copper, zinc, tin, silver, and gold — and finished in an antique green patina that gives the piece the appearance of aged temple metal.

The form follows the iconographic convention of the Arunachaleswarar temple at Tiruvannamalai, where the Shiva Lingam is presented within an elaborate kavacham — a decorative ceremonial covering. Here, that kavacham is rendered in cast relief: layered beaded necklaces, geometric border work, and a central pendant cascade down the body of the lingam in carefully graduated detail. Flanking pillars frame the composition on either side, anchoring it within a compact temple-style base that keeps the idol stable on a flat surface. Above the lingam, a multi-hooded naga spreads its hood in the protective posture associated with Shiva's serpent, Vasuki — the hood fanning outward in a tiered semicircle that crowns the entire form.

Arunachaleswarar represents Shiva as Agni — the element of fire — one of the Pancha Bhuta Stalas of South India. The hill of Arunachala itself is understood as the Lingam, making this form particularly significant in Shaiva tradition. Worshipping this form is considered especially auspicious on Karthigai Deepam and during Pradosham.

Panchaloha has been the material of choice for South Indian temple icons for over a millennium. The inclusion of gold and silver in trace amounts alongside copper, zinc, and tin gives the alloy both devotional significance and exceptional density and durability.

The antique green finish, visible across the entire surface of this piece, settles into the recessed detailing and brings out the depth of the relief work. As with all handcast pieces, minor variation in tone, texture, and surface character from one idol to the next is inherent to the process.

This lingam is suited for a home puja room, a personal meditation corner, a travel altar, or as a considered devotional gift for someone with a connection to the Tiruvannamalai tradition.

How We Pack It

Every idol is individually wrapped in soft cloth and nestled in foam casing inside a double-walled corrugated box. We have shipped to 25+ countries without a single breakage complaint.

Orders are dispatched within 2-3 working days. Domestic delivery takes 5-7 days. International shipping takes 10-15 working days via tracked courier.

How to Care For It

Wipe regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners, acidic solutions, or abrasive pads. For occasional deep cleaning, use warm water and mild soap — dry immediately after.

Brass and Panchaloha naturally develop patina over time. If you prefer the original finish, apply a thin coat of coconut oil monthly.
