Add a bold, temple-style accent to your space with this tabletop Shankar Mask, handcrafted in brass and finished in a rich antique brown. The piece features Shiva’s serene visage with the urdhva bindu (third eye), ornate crown, curled mustache, and flared earrings—sculpted with crisp, traditional detailing. Designed as a hollow-cast, lightweight mask, it sits securely on consoles, shelves, or puja corners without overwhelming the setup. Perfect for: entry consoles, living rooms, studios, and auspicious gifting.Care: Wipe with a soft, dry cloth; avoid chemicals to preserve the patina. Note: At Cosmic Studio, every sculpture is individually handcrafted, ensuring no two pieces are exactly alike. Minor variations in color, texture, and detailing are a natural result of the artisanal process and are considered marks of authenticity. These unique characteristics, along with potential differences in lighting and screen displays, may cause the product to appear slightly different from the images shown.

About This Piece

9″ Shankar Mask (Tabletop) | Handcrafted Brass | Antique Brown Finish

This 9-inch Shankar Mask is a handcrafted brass tabletop piece measuring 9 inches in height, 7 inches in width, and 3.5 inches in depth, weighing 1,400 grams. It renders the face of Lord Shiva in the form of a devotional mask, cast using traditional hollow-casting methods that keep the piece stable and manageable without compromising the density or integrity of the surface detail.

The craftsmanship on this piece is deliberate and layered. The face carries a composed, slightly stern expression with wide-set eyes, a full curled mustache, and a markedly calm brow — the kind of restraint in expression that takes considerable skill to achieve in metal. The urdhva bindu, the third eye at the center of the forehead, is cleanly rendered. The crown rises in tiers with leaf-like petal detailing at the base and a pointed finial at the top, and the flared ear ornaments on either side are worked with their own decorative patterning. The neck base is finished with a beaded border that grounds the entire form. Each of these elements follows the iconographic conventions of Shaiva tradition, where Shiva's form as Mahadeva is depicted with specific markers of sovereignty and ascetic power.

In Indian devotional tradition, the mask form of Shiva represents his omnipresent, witnessing nature — a face that is worshipped as presence itself rather than full anthropomorphic form. This format has deep roots in temple practice and domestic ritual across the subcontinent.

Brass, an alloy of copper and zinc, has been the preferred material for Indian devotional metalwork for centuries. It holds fine detail well during casting, develops a warm tone as it ages, and remains structurally stable over decades with minimal care.

The antique brown finish on this piece has been applied to deepen the recessed areas and bring the raised detailing into relief, giving it the appearance of age and use. As a handcrafted object, each mask will carry minor variation in surface tone, texture, and depth of finish.

This mask is suited for a puja corner, entry console, studio shelf, or as a considered gift for someone who appreciates devotional craft in its traditional form.

How We Pack It

Every idol is individually wrapped in soft cloth and nestled in foam casing inside a double-walled corrugated box. We have shipped to 25+ countries without a single breakage complaint.

Orders are dispatched within 2-3 working days. Domestic delivery takes 5-7 days. International shipping takes 10-15 working days via tracked courier.

How to Care For It

Wipe regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners, acidic solutions, or abrasive pads. For occasional deep cleaning, use warm water and mild soap — dry immediately after.

Brass and Panchaloha naturally develop patina over time. If you prefer the original finish, apply a thin coat of coconut oil monthly.
