Invoke protection and prosperity with this Lakshmi Varaha idol, handcrafted in brass and finished in a rich antique brown. Lord Varaha—the boar-headed avatar of Vishnu—sits regally with Goddess Lakshmi on his lap, symbolising the rescue of the earth and the assurance of abundance. The deity holds the chakra and shankha, while crisp temple-style detailing on the crown, jewels, and lotus pedestal gives the piece a powerful, altar-ready presence at a compact 9-inch height. Perfect for: puja rooms, entry consoles, and auspicious gifting for new homes and businesses.Care: Wipe with a soft, dry cloth; avoid chemicals to preserve the patina. Note: At Cosmic Studio, every sculpture is individually handcrafted, ensuring no two pieces are exactly alike. Minor variations in color, texture, and detailing are a natural result of the artisanal process and are considered marks of authenticity. These unique characteristics, along with potential differences in lighting and screen displays, may cause the product to appear slightly different from the images shown.

About This Piece

9″ Lakshmi Varaha (Varagar) | Handcrafted Brass | Antique Brown Finish

This 9.5-inch handcrafted brass sculpture depicts Lakshmi Varaha — the boar-headed fourth avatar of Vishnu seated in a composed, frontal posture with Goddess Lakshmi positioned on his left lap — rendered using traditional lost-wax casting and finished in a deep antique brown.

The sculpture is cast with considerable iconographic precision. Lord Varaha's four arms carry the chakra and shankha in the upper hands, while the form is dressed in layered ornamental detail across the chest, upper arms, and wrists. The crown rises in a tall, ribbed tower typical of temple-style iconography, and fine surface chasing brings out the texture of jewels, armlets, and waistband. Goddess Lakshmi sits with composure alongside him, her own crown, earrings, and garments rendered with comparable care. The tiered lotus pedestal below is sculpted with petal motifs, and the square base carries engraved scrollwork along its perimeter — details that indicate the work of a craftsperson trained in the South Indian devotional sculpture tradition.

Varaha is the avatar through whom Vishnu rescues the earth — Bhudevi — from cosmic dissolution, an act that carries deep significance in Vaishnava theology. The pairing of Varaha with Lakshmi in this seated composition signals both protective power and the continuity of prosperity, making the form particularly auspicious for household and institutional worship.

Brass, an alloy of copper and zinc, has been the preferred material for Indian devotional sculpture for centuries. It holds fine detail through casting, develops a warm tone with age, and maintains structural integrity over generations of ritual use. At 3,800 grams, this piece has the weight and density that speaks to solid, quality casting throughout.

The antique brown finish gives the surface a settled, aged quality — deepening in the recessed areas and warming across the raised details. As a handcrafted object, each piece will carry its own variation in tone and surface texture, which is inherent to the process and not a defect.

At 9.5 inches, this sculpture is well-suited to a dedicated puja room, a home altar, or as a considered gift for a new home or business establishment.

How to Care For It

Wipe regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners, acidic solutions, or abrasive pads. For occasional deep cleaning, use warm water and mild soap — dry immediately after.

Brass and Panchaloha naturally develop patina over time. If you prefer the original finish, apply a thin coat of coconut oil monthly.
