About This Piece

9″ Dancing Ganesha | Handcrafted Brass | Gray Stone Finish

This 9.5-inch Dancing Ganesha is cast in solid brass and finished in a deep gray stone tone that gives the piece the visual weight of aged temple sculpture. The idol stands on a stepped lotus base, with Lord Ganesha depicted in a dynamic tribhanga posture — one leg raised, the torso turned, six arms extended outward in a gesture of fluid, balanced movement. The figure holds ritual objects across its hands, and the surface is worked with fine incised detailing across the crown, jewelry, waistband, and draped fabric, all rendered with the precision that comes from careful hand-finishing after the initial cast.

The form follows a well-established iconographic tradition that depicts Ganesha not in repose but in motion — the dancing posture, sometimes called Nritya Ganapati, communicates joy, creative energy, and the dynamic force through which obstacles are dissolved rather than merely removed. Capturing this posture in three dimensions requires a sculptor to resolve significant structural challenges: the raised leg, the spread of the arms, and the counterbalance of the large head and belly all demand that the casting and armature be planned with care before a single detail is applied.

Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc. It has been the primary material for Indian devotional metalwork for centuries, valued for its density, warm undertone, and resistance to corrosion over time. At 3,150 grams, this piece has the solidity expected of a serious sculptural object rather than a decorative reproduction.

The gray stone finish is applied by hand after casting, producing a matte, darkened surface that suppresses the natural yellow of raw brass and allows the sculptural detail to read clearly without visual distraction. Warm brass tones remain visible in recessed areas where the finish has been selectively worked. Because each piece is finished individually, variations in depth of tone and surface texture will occur between units — these are inherent to the handcrafted process.

This piece suits a dedicated puja space, a meditation room, a collector's shelf, or an occasion of meaningful gifting.

How We Pack It

Every idol is individually wrapped in soft cloth and nestled in foam casing inside a double-walled corrugated box. We have shipped to 25+ countries without a single breakage complaint.

Orders are dispatched within 2-3 working days. Domestic delivery takes 5-7 days. International shipping takes 10-15 working days via tracked courier.

How to Care For It

Wipe regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners, acidic solutions, or abrasive pads. For occasional deep cleaning, use warm water and mild soap — dry immediately after.

Brass and Panchaloha naturally develop patina over time. If you prefer the original finish, apply a thin coat of coconut oil monthly.
