About This Piece

9.5″ Parvathi | Handcrafted Panchaloha | Green Patina Finish

This 9.5-inch standing figure of Goddess Parvathi is cast in Panchaloha, the traditional South Indian alloy composed of five metals, and finished with an antique green patina that deepens the sculpture's classical character.

The form follows the Chola-style iconographic tradition, with Parvathi rendered in a composed tribhanga posture — a gentle three-point stance in which the weight shifts subtly through the body, conveying both stillness and life. One hand is raised in a gesture of acknowledgment or blessing, while the other rests at her side with fingers gently extended. The figure is ornamented with stacked armlets, a beaded necklace, an elaborately worked waistband, and layered anklets, all rendered with the fine surface detailing that requires patient hand-chiseling after casting. The tall crown, or mukuta, rises in tiered sections above a composed, faintly smiling face. She stands on a lotus pedestal with carved petals radiating outward from the base — a standard and well-executed element of temple iconography.

Parvathi is the consort of Shiva and, in the Shakta tradition, understood as the primordial feminine energy — Shakti — that underlies all creation. She represents strength that is neither aggressive nor passive, and her standing form in classical South Indian sculpture is associated with grace, protection, and the sustaining force of the universe.

Panchaloha is a sacred alloy that has been used in South Indian temple worship for over a thousand years. Its composition — gold, silver, copper, zinc, and iron — gives it a density and surface quality that responds exceptionally well to the lost-wax casting process and holds fine detail through finishing and patination.

The antique green finish on this piece is achieved through a controlled oxidation process, giving the surface a weathered depth consistent with aged temple bronzes. As with all handcrafted work, individual pieces will carry their own variation in tone, texture, and surface quality.

At 1400 grams and 9.5 inches tall, this sculpture is well-suited for a puja room altar, a collector's display, or as a considered gift for occasions tied to devotion or cultural appreciation.

How We Pack It

Every idol is individually wrapped in soft cloth and nestled in foam casing inside a double-walled corrugated box. We have shipped to 25+ countries without a single breakage complaint.

Orders are dispatched within 2-3 working days. Domestic delivery takes 5-7 days. International shipping takes 10-15 working days via tracked courier.

How to Care For It

Wipe regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners, acidic solutions, or abrasive pads. For occasional deep cleaning, use warm water and mild soap — dry immediately after.

Brass and Panchaloha naturally develop patina over time. If you prefer the original finish, apply a thin coat of coconut oil monthly.
