About This Piece

8″ Parvathi Mask (Tabletop) | Handcrafted Brass | Antique Brown Finish

This 8.5-inch Parvathi mask is handcrafted in brass and finished in antique brown, designed to sit on a flat surface as a tabletop piece measuring 8.5 inches in height, 6.5 inches in width, and 4 inches in depth, weighing 1,500 grams.

The face is cast with a calm, composed expression — eyes gently lowered, features symmetrical and unhurried. Above the forehead sits a tiered crown with a pointed finial, detailed at its base with a band of carved petal-like motifs. Ornate ear ornaments extend on either side, shaped with layered detail and small pendant drops. A carved necklace element sits at the base of the neck, completing the iconographic frame. The casting captures both the broad structural forms and the finer surface detailing — the bead borders, the foliate carvings, the subtle texture of the crown — reflecting the kind of hands-on work that cannot be replicated by machine production.

Parvathi, in Indian devotional tradition, is understood as Shakti — the foundational energy underlying creation — and as the consort of Shiva. Her face in this mask form, known in temple tradition as a mukha, is a standalone devotional object intended to hold the same ritual presence as a full figure. The downward gaze and composed expression carry the quality of meditative stillness that the iconographic tradition associates with her benevolent aspect.

Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, valued in Indian craft traditions for its density, its warm reddish-gold tone, and its capacity to hold fine detail through casting. It resists corrosion and maintains structural integrity over decades, which is why it has remained the preferred material for devotional objects across centuries.

The antique brown finish deepens the surface, drawing out the carved details and giving the piece the tonal quality of aged temple metalwork. As with all handcrafted brass, natural variation in texture, surface tone, and fine detailing is inherent to the process and is not a defect.

This piece is well-suited to a puja corner, an entry console, a collector's shelf, or as a considered gift for someone who values traditional craft.

How We Pack It

Every idol is individually wrapped in soft cloth and nestled in foam casing inside a double-walled corrugated box. We have shipped to 25+ countries without a single breakage complaint.

Orders are dispatched within 2-3 working days. Domestic delivery takes 5-7 days. International shipping takes 10-15 working days via tracked courier.

How to Care For It

Wipe regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners, acidic solutions, or abrasive pads. For occasional deep cleaning, use warm water and mild soap — dry immediately after.

Brass and Panchaloha naturally develop patina over time. If you prefer the original finish, apply a thin coat of coconut oil monthly.
