About This Piece

8″ Ganesha with Arch | Handcrafted Brass | Fine Work

This 8-inch brass Ganesha depicts the deity seated in lalitasana within a fully cast ornate arch, measuring 8 inches in height, 4.5 inches in width, and 2.5 inches in depth, and weighing 1,700 grams. The arch rises in a pronounced prabhavali form, its border layered with detailed relief work including a kirtimukha face at the crown and scrolling foliage along the sides, all rendered in the same casting as the figure itself.

The figure has been shaped and finished by hand. Ganesha is shown four-armed, seated on a raised lotus platform, his trunk curving to the left, with each hand holding iconographically specific attributes. The face carries etched detail work, including a lotus motif on the forehead. The crown, jewelry, armlets, and the tiered pedestal base all show close hand-chasing work, with fine lines brought out through careful surface finishing. The mouse, Ganesha's vehicle, is visible at the base near the feet. The level of relief across both the figure and the arch frame indicates significant handwork at the finishing stage.

Ganesha is the first deity invoked in Hindu ritual and is understood as the remover of obstacles and the lord of beginnings. The arch form, known as a prabhavali or torana in temple iconography, traditionally frames the deity as a protected and consecrated presence, mirroring the architectural shrines of South Indian temple tradition.

Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, valued in Indian metalwork for its weight, structural integrity, warm golden tone, and resistance to corrosion. It has been the primary material for devotional casting in India for centuries and holds its finish and form across generations with minimal care.

This piece carries a polished finish, giving the surface a warm, burnished gold tone visible across the figure and arch. As with all handcrafted work, natural variation in surface texture, tone depth, and fine detail will occur between individual pieces.

This sculpture is suited for a home puja room, a dedicated altar setting, or as a considered gift for housewarmings, weddings, and festive occasions.

How We Pack It

Every idol is individually wrapped in soft cloth and nestled in foam casing inside a double-walled corrugated box. We have shipped to 25+ countries without a single breakage complaint.

Orders are dispatched within 2-3 working days. Domestic delivery takes 5-7 days. International shipping takes 10-15 working days via tracked courier.

How to Care For It

Wipe regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners, acidic solutions, or abrasive pads. For occasional deep cleaning, use warm water and mild soap — dry immediately after.

Brass and Panchaloha naturally develop patina over time. If you prefer the original finish, apply a thin coat of coconut oil monthly.
