A serene portrayal of Nammalvar, one of the most revered Alvars in the Sri Vaishnava tradition, known for his profound devotion and divine verses. Depicted in a composed seated posture, this idol reflects inner stillness, wisdom, and complete surrender to the divine. Handcrafted in traditional panchaloha, the sculpture carries both spiritual depth and timeless craftsmanship. The polished finish enhances the detailing in the facial features, ornaments, and posture, giving it a refined and graceful presence. At 3 inches, this compact piece is ideal for personal pooja setups, small altars, or as a meaningful spiritual companion for daily prayers. It also makes a thoughtful gift for those connected to Vaishnava traditions and devotional heritage. Note:At Cosmic Studio, every sculpture is individually handcrafted, ensuring no two pieces are exactly alike. Minor variations in color, texture, and detailing are a natural result of the artisanal process and are considered marks of authenticity. These unique characteristics, along with potential differences in lighting and screen displays, may cause the product to appear slightly different from the images shown.

About This Piece

3″ Nammalvar Idol for Pooja & Home Decor | Handcrafted Panchaloha | Polished Finish

This 3-inch Nammalvar idol is handcrafted in panchaloha, the traditional five-metal alloy used in South Indian sacred sculpture, and measures 3 inches in height, 1.75 inches in width, and 1.25 inches in depth, weighing 120 grams.

The figure is cast in a composed seated posture with legs crossed on a tiered rectangular pedestal, the base itself carrying fine relief patterning along its borders. The right hand is raised in what appears to be a gesture of benediction or exposition, while the left hand holds a staff bearing the Vishnu flag — the Urdhvapundra symbol rendered with clear definition at its top. The face carries a gentle, inward expression, wide-eyed and serene, framed by detailed hair and a curved crown or turban form rising from the head. Ornamental detailing is visible across the chest, ears, and upper arms. The craftsmanship at this scale demands considerable precision — the articulation of the fingers, the facial features, the layered base, and the attributes held in hand are all shaped through careful hand-finishing after casting, reflecting a working knowledge of Vaishnava iconographic conventions.

Nammalvar, the foremost among the twelve Alvars, is the author of the Thiruvaimozhi, considered within the Sri Vaishnava tradition to be the Tamil equivalent of the Vedas. He is venerated as a saint whose entire life was an act of absorption in Vishnu, and his form is typically depicted in a state of deep meditative surrender rather than active narrative.

Panchaloha — the alloy of gold, silver, copper, iron, and lead proportioned according to classical Agamic specifications — has been the prescribed material for consecrated South Indian temple icons for over a millennium. It is dense, workable, and develops a warm, lasting surface over time.

The polished finish on this piece brings out the brightness of the metal and sharpens the surface detail across the face, ornaments, and pedestal carving. As with all handcrafted work, minor variation in tone and texture from piece to piece is inherent to the process. This idol is suited to a personal puja space, home altar, or as a considered gift for someone rooted in Vaishnava devotional practice.

How We Pack It

Every idol is individually wrapped in soft cloth and nestled in foam casing inside a double-walled corrugated box. We have shipped to 25+ countries without a single breakage complaint.

Orders are dispatched within 2-3 working days. Domestic delivery takes 5-7 days. International shipping takes 10-15 working days via tracked courier.

How to Care For It

Wipe regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners, acidic solutions, or abrasive pads. For occasional deep cleaning, use warm water and mild soap — dry immediately after.

Brass and Panchaloha naturally develop patina over time. If you prefer the original finish, apply a thin coat of coconut oil monthly.
