About This Piece

3″ Buddha in Namaskara Mudra | Handcrafted Panchaloha | Green Patina Finish

This 3-inch Buddha idol, cast in traditional Panchaloha and measuring 3" H x 2" W x 1" D with a weight of 200 grams, depicts the Buddha in Namaskara Mudra — both palms pressed together at the chest in a gesture of greeting, reverence, and inner stillness.

The figure is cast using the lost-wax method, a technique that allows for precise rendering of fine surface detail. The ushnisha — the cranial prominence atop the head — rises to a distinct point and is set with tightly formed curls across the crown, faithful to classical Buddhist iconographic convention. A small lotus medallion is rendered at the chest, and the robe falls in clean, unadorned folds across the seated form. The face carries a composed, softly resolved expression — eyes lowered, features calm — consistent with depictions of the Buddha in meditative equipoise. The figure seats in padmasana on a flat oval base, the overall posture symmetrical and grounded.

In Buddhist tradition, the Namaskara Mudra represents the unity of individual consciousness with the universal — an acknowledgment that the sacred is present in all directions and in all beings. It is one of the most quietly powerful gestures in devotional iconography, associated with gratitude, humility, and the return to present awareness.

Panchaloha is a five-metal alloy used in South Indian temple sculpture for over a thousand years, composed of copper, zinc, tin, lead, and gold in proportions prescribed by the Agama Shastra. The alloy is valued for its density, structural stability, and the warm tonal depth it develops over time.

This piece carries an antique green patina finish — visible in the image as a muted verdigris tone that settles into the recessed areas and contrasts against the warmer brass-gold of the raised surfaces. Because each piece is individually cast and hand-finished, variation in patina distribution, surface texture, and tone is inherent to the process and considered a mark of the work's authenticity.

At 3 inches, this sculpture is well suited to a meditation corner, study desk, home altar, or as a considered gift for someone drawn to Buddhist practice or contemplative living.

How We Pack It

Every idol is individually wrapped in soft cloth and nestled in foam casing inside a double-walled corrugated box. We have shipped to 25+ countries without a single breakage complaint.

Orders are dispatched within 2-3 working days. Domestic delivery takes 5-7 days. International shipping takes 10-15 working days via tracked courier.

How to Care For It

Wipe regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners, acidic solutions, or abrasive pads. For occasional deep cleaning, use warm water and mild soap — dry immediately after.

Brass and Panchaloha naturally develop patina over time. If you prefer the original finish, apply a thin coat of coconut oil monthly.
