Invite abundance and calm grace with this 2.5-inch Lakshmi seated in lalitasana on a richly carved round base. Cast in solid brass with a super-fine antique finish, the idol features a radiant halo, ornate jewelry, and crisp drapery. Her upper hands hold lotuses, while her lower hands bless in abhaya and varada mudras—symbols of protection and prosperity. Compact yet striking, it suits home altars, office desks, and shop cash counters, and makes a thoughtful gift for Varalakshmi Vratham, Diwali, weddings, and housewarmings. Note: At Cosmic Studio, every sculpture is individually handcrafted, ensuring no two pieces are exactly alike. Minor variations in color, texture, and detailing are a natural result of the artisanal process and are considered marks of authenticity. These unique characteristics, along with potential differences in lighting and screen displays, may cause the product to appear slightly different from the images shown.

About This Piece

2.5″ Round-Base Lakshmi | Super-Fine Handcrafted Brass

This 2.75-inch seated Lakshmi idol is cast in solid brass and finished with a polished antique treatment that brings out the warmth and depth of the metal. The figure is rendered in lalitasana — a posture of composed ease — seated on a richly detailed round base with layered ornamental borders that reflect the aesthetic vocabulary of South Indian temple sculpture.

The casting work on this piece is notably fine for its scale. The halo, formed as a ring of stylized lotus petals and floral elements, is cleanly defined at the edges. Her four arms are well-proportioned, with the upper hands holding lotus buds and the lower hands positioned in abhaya and varada mudras — gestures of protection and the granting of boons. The jewelry across the chest, arms, and crown is layered and specific, not generic, with individual elements — necklaces, armlets, and a tiered crown — that hold their detail even at 70 grams of material. The expression on the face is calm and considered, with a slight upward curve at the mouth that reads as quiet grace rather than stylization.

In Indian devotional tradition, Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth, abundance, and auspiciousness. She is worshipped daily in households and holds central importance during Diwali, Varalakshmi Vratham, and at business openings. The lotus she holds and stands from symbolizes purity arising from material existence.

Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc with a long history in Indian ritual and decorative metalwork. It holds fine surface detail, resists corrosion, and develops a stable patina over time. Its density gives even small pieces like this a satisfying weight in hand.

The antique polish finish on this piece accentuates the recessed areas while leaving the raised surfaces brighter, creating contrast that sharpens the overall composition. As with all handcrafted work, minor variation in tone and texture between pieces is inherent to the process.

This idol is well-suited to a home puja room, an office desk, a shop counter, or as a considered gift for Diwali, weddings, or housewarmings.

How to Care For It

Wipe regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners, acidic solutions, or abrasive pads. For occasional deep cleaning, use warm water and mild soap — dry immediately after.

Brass and Panchaloha naturally develop patina over time. If you prefer the original finish, apply a thin coat of coconut oil monthly.
