About This Piece

11″ Rishabadevar | Handcrafted Brass | Green Finish

This 11.5-inch Rishabadevar sculpture is handcrafted in brass and finished in a deep antique green patina, measuring 11.5 inches in height, 4.5 inches in width, and 3 inches in depth, with a weight of 2700 grams.

The figure stands in a composed tribhanga posture — a gentle three-point stance that has defined classical Indian sculptural tradition for centuries. One arm extends slightly forward with the hand open at the wrist, while the opposite arm rests at the side, creating a natural counterbalance through the body. The torso is upright and controlled, the weight distributed across a tiered lotus base with etched petal work visible around its rim. The face carries a calm, inward expression — eyes level, features measured — consistent with the iconographic treatment of a tirthankara in a state of detachment. The ornamentation is precise: a layered necklace across the chest, armlets, earrings, and a detailed waistband with cloth folds rendered in fine relief. The crown sits flat against the head with restrained carving, in keeping with Jain iconographic convention that avoids elaborate headgear in favor of dignified simplicity.

Rishabadeva, also known as Adinatha, is the first of the twenty-four tirthankaras in Jain tradition — a figure who represents the origin of the dharmic path, the establishment of righteous living, and the ideal of non-attachment. His calm posture is not merely aesthetic; it is a direct expression of inner stillness and the liberation from worldly cycles that Jain philosophy centers on.

Brass, an alloy of copper and zinc, has been the material of choice for Indian devotional objects for centuries. Its density allows for fine surface detailing, its warm base metal takes patina treatments well, and it holds its form and finish across decades of use with minimal care.

The antique green finish is applied by hand, building a layered patina that settles into the recessed areas of the carving and lifts slightly on the raised surfaces, as visible on the ornamentation and base. Because each piece is cast and finished individually, no two sculptures are identical — variations in tone, texture, and surface depth are inherent to the process and reflect its handmade character.

This sculpture is suited to a dedicated puja space, a home altar maintained in the Jain tradition, or a curated interior shelf where classical South Indian and Jain iconography is collected seriously.

How We Pack It

Every idol is individually wrapped in soft cloth and nestled in foam casing inside a double-walled corrugated box. We have shipped to 25+ countries without a single breakage complaint.

Orders are dispatched within 2-3 working days. Domestic delivery takes 5-7 days. International shipping takes 10-15 working days via tracked courier.

How to Care For It

Wipe regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners, acidic solutions, or abrasive pads. For occasional deep cleaning, use warm water and mild soap — dry immediately after.

Brass and Panchaloha naturally develop patina over time. If you prefer the original finish, apply a thin coat of coconut oil monthly.
