This 11-inch Ardhanarishvara idol portrays Shiva and Parvati as a single, harmonious form—the union of masculine power and feminine grace. Handcrafted in brass with an antique green finish, the sculpture shows Shiva’s jata (Hair) and axe on one side and Parvati’s delicate drapery and ornaments on the other. The balanced stance on a lotus pedestal gives it a calm, puja-ready presence for altars, consoles, and living rooms. Why it’s special Symbol of balance, completeness, and harmony in the home Finely carved jewelry, crown, and garments on both halves Compact statement height (11″) that suits most spaces Care: Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemicals to preserve the finish. Note: At Cosmic Studio, every sculpture is individually handcrafted, ensuring no two pieces are exactly alike. Minor variations in color, texture, and detailing are a natural result of the artisanal process and are considered marks of authenticity. These unique characteristics, along with potential differences in lighting and screen displays, may cause the product to appear slightly different from the images shown.

About This Piece

11″ Divine Ardhanareeswarar | Handcrafted Brass | Antique Green Finish

This 11-inch Ardhanareeswarar idol, standing 29 centimeters tall and weighing 2,300 grams, is cast in solid brass and finished in an antique green patina that deepens the sculptural detail across the entire form.

The idol is shaped through a process of lost-wax casting, a method that allows craftspeople to achieve the fine surface detail visible here — the layered jata crown rising above Shiva's half, the precisely rendered jewelry across the chest and arms, the softly draped lower garment on Parvati's side, and the carved lotus pedestal base with its concentric petal tiers. Four arms extend outward in a balanced configuration, one hand holding what appears to be a small staff or axe, another raised in a gesture of acknowledgment, and the remaining two in postures of offering and grace. The expression on the face is composed and inward, consistent with classical South Indian iconographic conventions for this form.

Ardhanareeswarar represents the inseparable union of Shiva and Shakti — masculine and feminine principles held within a single body. In Indian philosophical and devotional tradition, this form is understood as a statement of completeness: that creation, preservation, and dissolution arise from the integration of opposites, not their conflict. The form has deep roots in Shaiva and Shakta traditions and remains one of the most theologically layered subjects in Indian sacred art.

Brass, an alloy of copper and zinc, has been the preferred material for Indian devotional sculpture for centuries. Its density allows for precise carving and long-term structural integrity, while its natural warmth responds well to patination techniques that age the surface without compromising the metal beneath.

The antique green finish on this piece is applied by hand, building up gradually across the surface to settle into the recessed areas of the carving. Because each idol is individually cast and finished, the tone and texture will carry natural variation — no two pieces will read identically in color or surface character.

At 11 inches, this sculpture is appropriately scaled for a puja room altar, a home console, or a serious collector's display.

How We Pack It

Every idol is individually wrapped in soft cloth and nestled in foam casing inside a double-walled corrugated box. We have shipped to 25+ countries without a single breakage complaint.

Orders are dispatched within 2-3 working days. Domestic delivery takes 5-7 days. International shipping takes 10-15 working days via tracked courier.

How to Care For It

Wipe regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners, acidic solutions, or abrasive pads. For occasional deep cleaning, use warm water and mild soap — dry immediately after.

Brass and Panchaloha naturally develop patina over time. If you prefer the original finish, apply a thin coat of coconut oil monthly.
