This handcrafted brass Bogasakthi sculpture — a seated form of Parvati — stands 10.5 inches (27 cm) tall, 6.5 inches (16 cm) wide, and 5 inches (13 cm) deep, weighing approximately 3.6 kg, and is finished in a gray stone treatment that lays a deep, cool-toned oxidation across the full figure and stepped rectangular base while allowing the raised edges of the ornamental relief to surface with a subtly warmer underlying brass tone throughout.

The figure is cast in brass and hand-finished in a relaxed seated posture — the right leg bent and drawn upward, the left leg extended and resting over the plinth edge, with the torso upright and composed. This posture, known as lalitasana or a variant of it, conveys ease and sovereign calm rather than formal rigidity, and it carries a long history in South Indian devotional metalwork where feminine deities are rendered in moments of graceful repose. The tall, stacked crown is elaborately engraved with tiered bands and a rounded finial. The face is serene — wide-set eyes, a straight nose, and a composed expression worked with careful attention to proportion. The neck carries layered bead necklaces in fine cast relief, and ornamental armlets and bangles are present on both arms. The torso and lower body are dressed in a finely detailed waistcloth worked with close horizontal and textural banding. The stepped circular seat and broad rectangular plinth below it are decorated with arcade and petal friezes that add ceremonial weight to the base.

Parvati, the consort of Shiva, is one of the most central figures in the Shakta and Shaiva traditions. She embodies Shakti — divine feminine energy — in its most benevolent and nurturing aspect. The Bogasakthi form specifically represents her in a state of gracious abundance and composed authority, and she has been venerated in this manner in South Indian temple and domestic traditions for centuries.

Brass, an alloy of copper and zinc, has been used in Indian devotional and decorative objects for centuries. It carries meaningful weight relative to its size, accepts intricate casting detail reliably, and provides a warm, durable surface well suited to patinated finishes that hold and deepen over time.

The gray stone finish applies a deep, even oxidation across the full sculpture — figure, ornamentation, and tiered plinth — producing a cool mineral tone consistent with aged stone temple sculpture. The raised areas of the crown, necklaces, armlets, and plinth friezes retain a subtly warmer brass tone beneath the finish, creating layered visual depth across the surface. Handcrafted pieces carry natural variation in the depth and distribution of this finish.

This sculpture is well suited for a Devi puja room, home altar, gifting on Navaratri or other auspicious occasions, or as a collector's piece in classical South Indian devotional brass forms.

Note: At Cosmic Studio, every sculpture is individually handcrafted, ensuring no two pieces are exactly alike. Minor variations in color, texture, and detailing are a natural result of the artisanal process and are considered marks of authenticity. These unique characteristics, along with potential differences in lighting and screen displays, may cause the product to appear slightly different from the images shown.

Shipping & Care

How We Pack It

Every idol is individually wrapped in soft cloth and nestled in foam casing inside a double-walled corrugated box. We have shipped to 25+ countries without a single breakage complaint.

Orders are dispatched within 2-3 working days. Domestic delivery takes 5-7 days. International shipping takes 10-15 working days via tracked courier.

How to Care For It

Wipe regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners, acidic solutions, or abrasive pads. For occasional deep cleaning, use warm water and mild soap — dry immediately after.

Brass and Panchaloha naturally develop patina over time. If you prefer the original finish, apply a thin coat of coconut oil monthly.
