Invite serenity and divine protection with this 2.5-inch Sri Ranganathar idol. Handcast in the traditional South Indian Panchaloha alloy (five sacred metals), it carries auspicious energy and a warm, long-lasting sheen. Lord Vishnu reclines on Adisesha in the Ananta Shayana pose, with Goddess Ranganayaki (Lakshmi) by his side. A lotus rises from his navel bearing Lord Brahma, while the conch and discus complete the classic iconography. The serpent hood, jewels, and temple-style base are finely detailed, giving this compact piece a rich devotional presence. Perfect for home puja shelves, office desks, and travel altars. A thoughtful gift for Vaikunta Ekadashi, housewarmings, and weddings—this Ranganathar idol brings peace, protection, and prosperity wherever it is placed. Note: At Cosmic Studio, every sculpture is individually handcrafted, ensuring no two pieces are exactly alike. Minor variations in color, texture, and detailing are a natural result of the artisanal process and are considered marks of authenticity. These unique characteristics, along with potential differences in lighting and screen displays, may cause the product to appear slightly different from the images shown.

About This Piece

2.5″ Sri Ranganathar | Handcrafted Panchaloha | Green Patina

This 2.5-inch Sri Ranganathar idol depicts Lord Vishnu in the Ananta Shayana pose — reclining in eternal repose upon the coiled serpent Adisesha — and measures 4 inches in width and 1.5 inches in depth, weighing 450 grams. It is handcast in Panchaloha, the traditional South Indian alloy composed of five sacred metals that has been used in temple iconography for well over a millennium.

The piece is cast using the lost-wax method, a process that demands a separately modeled wax original for each piece before metal is introduced. At this compact scale, the level of detail achieved is considerable: the multi-hooded serpent canopy arches behind the reclining figure, the four arms carry the characteristic attributes including the conch and discus, and Goddess Ranganayaki is seated in attendance at his feet. The tiered temple-style base carries beaded border detailing that reflects the architectural vocabulary of South Indian shrine traditions. Each of these elements is worked individually before and after casting, with hand-finishing tools used to sharpen surfaces that the mold alone cannot fully resolve.

Sri Ranganathar, enshrined most famously at Srirangam, is considered the presiding form of Vishnu in the reclining aspect — representing the cosmic state of yogic rest from which creation sustains itself. The presence of Lakshmi and the implied emergence of Brahma from the navel lotus make this composition a complete cosmological statement, not merely a devotional image.

Panchaloha carries cultural and ritual authority that single-metal alloys do not. Its composition — traditionally incorporating gold, silver, copper, iron, and lead or zinc in varying proportions — gives it both density and a warmth of tone that deepens with age and handling.

This piece carries an antique green patina, clearly visible across the surface as a rich verdigris tone with underlying gold warmth at the raised details. Because each idol is individually handcast and finished, the depth and distribution of the patina will vary naturally from piece to piece.

At 450 grams and a footprint suitable for a small puja shelf, office altar, or travel shrine, this Ranganathar is equally appropriate as a collector's piece or a considered devotional gift for occasions such as Vaikunta Ekadashi or a housewarming.

Shipping & Care

How We Pack It

Every idol is individually wrapped in soft cloth and nestled in foam casing inside a double-walled corrugated box. We have shipped to 25+ countries without a single breakage complaint.

Orders are dispatched within 2-3 working days. Domestic delivery takes 5-7 days. International shipping takes 10-15 working days via tracked courier.

How to Care For It

Wipe regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners, acidic solutions, or abrasive pads. For occasional deep cleaning, use warm water and mild soap — dry immediately after.

Brass and Panchaloha naturally develop patina over time. If you prefer the original finish, apply a thin coat of coconut oil monthly.
