About This Piece

Shiva Parvati Marriage Pose Idol | Handcrafted Panchaloha

This Shiva Parvati idol, standing 4.5 inches tall and 3 inches wide, depicts Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati side by side in the marriage blessing pose, cast in Panchaloha, the traditional South Indian five-metal alloy used for consecrated temple imagery.

The piece is produced through the lost-wax casting method, a process that demands precision at every stage — from building the wax model and applying the clay mold, to the pour, cooling, and the painstaking hand-finishing that follows. Lord Shiva stands with one arm raised in a gesture of benediction and the other resting around Parvati in a posture of sacred companionship. Parvati stands composed beside him, her form rendered in a finely ribbed antariya and layered ornamental jewelry. Both figures wear kirita mukutas — the tall crowned headdresses characteristic of South Indian iconographic tradition — and their facial expressions carry a calm, resolved quality that speaks to the skill of the finishing work rather than mechanical reproduction.

The Kalyanasundara form — Shiva and Parvati in the wedding pose — holds significant weight in Shaiva tradition. It represents the union of Purusha and Prakriti, the masculine and feminine principles that together sustain creation. This form is venerated in households as an emblem of marital harmony, mutual protection, and spiritual completeness.

Panchaloha is an alloy composed of gold, silver, copper, zinc, and iron in prescribed proportions. It has been the canonical material for South Indian temple icons for over a millennium, valued for its ritual purity, structural integrity, and the warm reddish-gold tone it develops through polishing.

This piece carries a polished finish, visible in the image as a bright, even copper-gold surface that brings out the contour work across the drapery, jewelry, and facial features. As with all handcrafted work, minor variation in surface tone and fine detail from piece to piece is inherent to the process and confirms individual craftsmanship.

At 350 grams and a compact footprint of 1.5 inches depth, this idol is well suited to a home puja room, a personal altar, or as a considered gift for a wedding or housewarming.

How We Pack It

Every idol is individually wrapped in soft cloth and nestled in foam casing inside a double-walled corrugated box. We have shipped to 25+ countries without a single breakage complaint.

Orders are dispatched within 2-3 working days. Domestic delivery takes 5-7 days. International shipping takes 10-15 working days via tracked courier.

How to Care For It

Wipe regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners, acidic solutions, or abrasive pads. For occasional deep cleaning, use warm water and mild soap — dry immediately after.

Brass and Panchaloha naturally develop patina over time. If you prefer the original finish, apply a thin coat of coconut oil monthly.
