About This Piece

Shiva Parvati Marriage Pose Idol | Handcrafted Panchaloha | Green Patina

This 4.5-inch standing Shiva Parvati idol is cast in Panchaloha, the traditional South Indian five-metal alloy, and depicts the divine couple in the marriage blessing pose, with Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati standing side by side on a flat rectangular base.

The piece is shaped using the lost-wax casting method, a technique that allows craftspeople to render fine iconographic detail with precision. Lord Shiva stands taller, wearing a tall crown and traditional ornaments, with one arm extended in a gesture of blessing and the other in a posture of union toward Parvati. Goddess Parvati stands slightly smaller beside him, adorned with layered jewelry, a tiered crown, and a composed, graceful expression. The surface carries hand-finished detailing across the clothing folds, body ornamentation, and facial features — work that requires both technical skill and familiarity with South Indian temple iconographic conventions.

In Hindu tradition, Shiva and Parvati together represent the inseparable nature of consciousness and energy, the masculine and feminine principles that sustain the cosmos. Their marriage, known as Kalyanasundaram, is one of the most celebrated events in Shaiva scripture and iconography, symbolizing completeness, devotion, and the harmony of opposites brought into union.

Panchaloha is an alloy composed of five metals — gold, silver, copper, zinc, and iron — proportioned according to traditional Agamic texts. It has been the preferred material for South Indian ritual and devotional sculpture for centuries, valued for its density, stability, and ceremonial significance.

The finish on this piece is an antique green patina, applied and worked by hand to settle into the recessed surfaces of the sculpture, bringing out the cast detailing while giving the idol the appearance of age and gravitas. As with all handcrafted work, the depth and distribution of this patina will vary slightly from piece to piece.

This idol is well suited for a home puja room, a personal altar, or as a considered gift marking a wedding or marriage anniversary.

How We Pack It

Every idol is individually wrapped in soft cloth and nestled in foam casing inside a double-walled corrugated box. We have shipped to 25+ countries without a single breakage complaint.

Orders are dispatched within 2-3 working days. Domestic delivery takes 5-7 days. International shipping takes 10-15 working days via tracked courier.

How to Care For It

Wipe regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners, acidic solutions, or abrasive pads. For occasional deep cleaning, use warm water and mild soap — dry immediately after.

Brass and Panchaloha naturally develop patina over time. If you prefer the original finish, apply a thin coat of coconut oil monthly.
