Celebrate valor, wisdom, and divine protection with this 4-inch Murugan Idol, masterfully handcrafted in Panchaloha, the traditional five-metal sacred alloy of South India. Lord Murugan (also known as Subramanya, Kartikeya or Skanda) is depicted in a regal standing pose, holding his Vel (spear) with elegance, and accompanied by his sacred vahana — the Peacock, symbolizing victory over ego and ignorance. From the fine ornaments to the calm and commanding expression on the deity’s face, every detail reflects the precision and artistry of skilled artisans. The circular pedestal with intricate engravings further enhances the presence of this divine sculpture. Perfect for home puja rooms, spiritual gifting, or temple decor, this idol brings with it the spiritual energy of courage, intelligence, and righteousness. Note: At Cosmic Studio, every sculpture is individually handcrafted, ensuring no two pieces are exactly alike. Minor variations in color, texture, and detailing are a natural result of the artisanal process and are considered marks of authenticity. These unique characteristics, along with potential differences in lighting and screen displays, may cause the product to appear slightly different from the images shown.

About This Piece

4″ Murugan Idol with Peacock | Handcrafted Panchaloha

This 4-inch Murugan idol, measuring 10cm x 6cm x 4cm and weighing 300 grams, is handcrafted in Panchaloha, the traditional five-metal alloy used in South Indian sacred iconography for centuries. A large peacock with a fully fanned tail and detailed feather engravings rises behind the figure, forming both a visual backdrop and an iconographic statement that is central to this form of Murugan.

The figure is cast and finished by hand, following classical South Indian sculptural conventions. Murugan stands in a composed, frontal posture on a finely engraved circular pedestal. He holds the Vel, his iconic spear, in one hand, while the other hand carries what appears to be a staff or mace. A smaller peacock stands at his feet to the left. The ornamentation across the figure — layered necklaces, armlets, an elaborate crown, and detailed drapery — has been worked with care at this scale, with the polished finish bringing out the relief and definition of each element. The expression on the face is calm and composed, consistent with classical Murugan iconography.

Lord Murugan, also revered as Subramanya, Kartikeya, and Skanda, is one of the most widely worshipped deities in the South Indian tradition. He represents valor, wisdom, and divine protection. His Vel symbolizes the piercing of ignorance, and his vahana, the peacock, is understood to represent the conquest of ego. His worship is especially central in Tamil Nadu, where temple traditions surrounding this form are among the oldest in the subcontinent.

Panchaloha is a five-metal alloy — traditionally composed of gold, silver, copper, zinc, and iron — that carries deep ritual significance in South Indian devotional practice. It produces a warm, dense casting that holds fine detail well and develops a characteristic warm tone with age and regular care.

This piece carries a polished finish that gives it a bright, reflective surface visible in the image. Because each idol is individually cast and hand-finished, natural variation in surface tone, texture, and fine detailing from piece to piece is expected and reflects the handmade nature of the work.

At 4 inches, this idol is well-suited to a home puja room, a personal altar, or as a considered gift for occasions of spiritual significance.

How We Pack It

Every idol is individually wrapped in soft cloth and nestled in foam casing inside a double-walled corrugated box. We have shipped to 25+ countries without a single breakage complaint.

Orders are dispatched within 2-3 working days. Domestic delivery takes 5-7 days. International shipping takes 10-15 working days via tracked courier.

How to Care For It

Wipe regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners, acidic solutions, or abrasive pads. For occasional deep cleaning, use warm water and mild soap — dry immediately after.

Brass and Panchaloha naturally develop patina over time. If you prefer the original finish, apply a thin coat of coconut oil monthly.
