Bring home courage, clarity, and victory with this 5.5-inch Murugan idol. Handcast in the traditional South Indian Panchaloha alloy (five sacred metals), it carries auspicious energy and a warm, lasting finish. Lord Murugan stands regal on a temple-style base, the Vel held at the center, the Seval Kodi (rooster flag) by his side, and sacred implements in his hands. His vahana—the peacock—stands gracefully next to him. Crisp detailing on the crown, jewelry, drapery, and pedestal showcases skilled craftsmanship in a devotional, display-worthy size. Perfect for puja rooms, office desks, business counters, and gifting on Skanda Shashti, Karthigai Deepam, housewarmings, and weddings. Place it in your sacred corner to invite strength, success, and protective energy every day. Note: At Cosmic Studio, every sculpture is individually handcrafted, ensuring no two pieces are exactly alike. Minor variations in color, texture, and detailing are a natural result of the artisanal process and are considered marks of authenticity. These unique characteristics, along with potential differences in lighting and screen displays, may cause the product to appear slightly different from the images shown.

About This Piece

5.5″ Lord Murugan with Vel & Peacock | Handcrafted Panchaloha | Wood Patina

This 5.5-inch standing figure of Lord Murugan is handcast in Panchaloha, the traditional South Indian five-metal alloy, and finished in a wood patina that gives the surface a warm, aged amber tone. The idol measures 5.5 inches in height, 3 inches in width, and 2.5 inches in depth, and weighs 330 grams — a substantial, well-balanced piece for its size.

The figure has been cast using traditional lost-wax methods, a process that allows for the level of surface detail visible across the crown, chest ornaments, waistband, and draped lower garment. Murugan stands in a composed, upright posture on a tiered lotus pedestal with a stepped square base. Four arms are rendered with clear articulation — the Vel is held centrally, the Seval Kodi or rooster flag is raised to one side, and the remaining hands carry devotional implements. The peacock, his vahana, stands beside him at the base with defined feather and form. The face holds a calm, forward-set expression with fine facial features and an ornate kirita mukuta crown rising in tiers above.

In South Indian tradition, Murugan — also known as Kartikeya, Skanda, and Subramanya — is the deity of valor, wisdom, and purpose. The Vel he carries represents the piercing of ignorance, and the peacock vahana signifies the victory of knowledge over ego. He is widely worshipped across Tamil households and temples, particularly during Skanda Shashti and Karthigai Deepam.

Panchaloha, meaning five metals, is a sacred alloy comprising gold, silver, copper, zinc, and iron in prescribed proportions. It has been the canonical material for South Indian temple icons for over a millennium, valued both for its ritual sanctity and its structural integrity. The alloy develops a stable, lasting patina over time.

The wood patina finish gives this piece a deep, burnished warmth visible in the amber-gold tones across the figure. As with all handcrafted work, minor variation in tone, surface texture, and detailing from piece to piece is inherent to the process and is a mark of its hand-made origin.

This idol is suited for a home puja room, personal altar, office or business counter, and makes a considered gift for housewarmings, weddings, or occasions tied to the Murugan calendar.

How to Care For It

Wipe regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners, acidic solutions, or abrasive pads. For occasional deep cleaning, use warm water and mild soap — dry immediately after.

Brass and Panchaloha naturally develop patina over time. If you prefer the original finish, apply a thin coat of coconut oil monthly.
