About This Piece

8″ Saraswathi with Arch | Handcrafted Brass | Fine Work (Copy)

This 8-inch handcrafted brass sculpture depicts Goddess Saraswathi seated in a composed posture, holding the veena across her lap, set within a fully cast decorative arch measuring 8 inches in height, 4.5 inches in width, and 2.5 inches in depth, and weighing 1700 grams.

The figure is rendered with considerable attention to iconographic detail. Saraswathi is shown in a cross-legged seated position on a tiered pedestal, her expression calm and composed, with refined facial features including a broad forehead, defined eyes, and a slight natural smile. Her crown is elaborate and layered, consistent with classical South Indian temple iconography. The ornamentation across the chest, arms, and waist is dense and finely worked — necklaces, armlets, and a decorated waistband are all clearly articulated in the casting. The prabhavali, or arched surround, is framed with scrolling foliage, lion-face motifs at the apex, and stylized elephant figures at the sides, all cast as a single integrated unit with the base. The level of relief detailing across the arch and the figure's jewellery indicates skilled hand-finishing work carried out after casting to bring out surface clarity.

In Indian tradition, Saraswathi is the presiding deity of knowledge, learning, language, and the arts. She is worshipped by students, scholars, musicians, and artists. Her veena-playing form is among the most venerated depictions, representing the union of intellectual discipline and creative expression.

Brass, an alloy of copper and zinc, has been used in Indian devotional objects for centuries. It is valued for its density, warm golden tone, and resistance to corrosion, qualities that make it well-suited for objects meant to last across generations.

This piece carries a polished finish, lending the surface a warm, luminous brass tone visible across the figure and arch. As with all handcrafted work, minor variation in surface texture, tone, and detailing from piece to piece is inherent to the process.

This sculpture is suited for a puja room, study, or home altar, and is a considered choice as a gift for occasions centered on learning, new beginnings, or artistic pursuits.

How We Pack It

Every idol is individually wrapped in soft cloth and nestled in foam casing inside a double-walled corrugated box. We have shipped to 25+ countries without a single breakage complaint.

Orders are dispatched within 2-3 working days. Domestic delivery takes 5-7 days. International shipping takes 10-15 working days via tracked courier.

How to Care For It

Wipe regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners, acidic solutions, or abrasive pads. For occasional deep cleaning, use warm water and mild soap — dry immediately after.

Brass and Panchaloha naturally develop patina over time. If you prefer the original finish, apply a thin coat of coconut oil monthly.
