About This Piece

6″ Hanuman with Veena (Rare Form) | Handcrafted Panchaloha | Wood Patina

This 6-inch standing Hanuman idol, cast in solid Panchaloha using traditional South Indian bronze-making methods, depicts the rare Veena Hanuman form — a devotional iconographic tradition in which Hanuman is shown not as a warrior but as a devoted musician in service of Rama.

The figure stands upright on a tiered circular base, holding a veena in his right hand with his left arm positioned at his side. The casting captures fine surface detail throughout — the layered kirita makuta crown, the ornamental chest adornments, the dhoti folds at the lower body, and the tail curving naturally behind the figure. The face carries the characteristic leonine features of Hanuman rendered with composure rather than aggression, consistent with the bhakti-oriented nature of this form. Each of these elements requires careful work at the wax modelling stage before casting, and further hand-finishing to bring out the surface clarity visible in the ornamental bands and textured garments.

The Veena Hanuman form is uncommon in North Indian iconography but holds deep roots in South Indian devotional tradition. It represents Hanuman not only as the embodiment of strength and loyalty, but as a master of music and learning — a reminder that his service to Rama was total, extending to knowledge, art, and devotion in equal measure.

Panchaloha is a five-metal alloy — traditionally comprising gold, silver, copper, brass, and iron or lead in varying proportions — used for centuries in South Indian temple idol-making. It is valued for its density, workability, and the quality of surface detail it holds after casting and finishing.

This piece carries a wood patina finish, giving the surface a deep reddish-brown tone that closely resembles aged teak or rosewood. Because this idol is individually handcrafted, the depth and distribution of the patina will vary slightly from piece to piece, as will minor surface textures — characteristics that reflect the handmade process rather than inconsistencies.

At 350 grams with a compact footprint, this idol is well-suited for a personal puja room, a meditation space, or as a considered gift for someone who values devotional art with iconographic depth.

How We Pack It

Every idol is individually wrapped in soft cloth and nestled in foam casing inside a double-walled corrugated box. We have shipped to 25+ countries without a single breakage complaint.

Orders are dispatched within 2-3 working days. Domestic delivery takes 5-7 days. International shipping takes 10-15 working days via tracked courier.

How to Care For It

Wipe regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners, acidic solutions, or abrasive pads. For occasional deep cleaning, use warm water and mild soap — dry immediately after.

Brass and Panchaloha naturally develop patina over time. If you prefer the original finish, apply a thin coat of coconut oil monthly.
