Invite abundance and serenity into your space with this 5-inch Mahalakshmi under an ornate arch. Handcrafted in the traditional South Indian Panchaloha alloy (copper, zinc, tin, silver, and gold), it carries auspicious energy and long-lasting beauty. Seated on a lotus pedestal, Lakshmi’s upper hands hold lotuses while her lower hands bless in abhaya and varada mudras. The carved prabhavali (arch) with floral motifs frames the idol, adding temple-style grandeur in a compact size. Perfect for home puja rooms, office desks, cash counters, and gifting for Varalakshmi Vratham, weddings, Diwali, or housewarmings. Place it in your sacred corner to invite prosperity, harmony, and gentle protection every day. Note: At Cosmic Studio, every sculpture is individually handcrafted, ensuring no two pieces are exactly alike. Minor variations in color, texture, and detailing are a natural result of the artisanal process and are considered marks of authenticity. These unique characteristics, along with potential differences in lighting and screen displays, may cause the product to appear slightly different from the images shown.

About This Piece

5″ Divine Mahalakshmi with Arch | Handcrafted Panchaloha | Green Patina

This 5-inch Mahalakshmi idol, measuring 5″H × 4″W × 2.5″D and weighing 600 grams, is cast in Panchaloha — the traditional South Indian five-metal alloy composed of copper, zinc, tin, silver, and gold — and finished in an antique green patina that gives the piece the depth and character of aged temple bronzes.

The idol is shaped through traditional lost-wax casting, a process that demands precise wax modeling, careful mold preparation, and controlled metal pouring before the painstaking hand-finishing work begins. Mahalakshmi is depicted in a frontal seated posture on a tiered lotus pedestal, with four arms in the iconographic arrangement specific to her form: the upper two hands hold what appear to be lotuses or ritual vessels, while the lower hands are positioned in abhaya mudra, offering protection, and varada mudra, signifying the granting of boons. Her face is calm and composed, framed by an elaborately worked crown and traditional jewelry across the neck and chest. The prabhavali — the arched frame surrounding the figure — is carved with dense scrolling foliage and terminates in a makara or floral crown at the apex, with the lateral columns supported by pillar bases carrying additional decorative relief. This arch is integral to the South Indian temple idol tradition, where the prabhavali represents the cosmic halo of the deity.

Mahalakshmi is the goddess of wealth, prosperity, and well-being in Hindu tradition, worshipped across households, temples, and commercial spaces. Her four arms are understood to represent the four aims of human life — dharma, artha, kama, and moksha.

Panchaloha has been the preferred material for South Indian devotional casting for centuries. The specific combination of metals is considered both auspicious and technically superior, producing a dense, durable alloy that holds fine detail and develops a rich surface tone over time.

The antique green finish, as visible on this piece, is applied to evoke the patina of aged bronze and varies in distribution across the surface. Because each idol is individually cast and finished by hand, minor differences in texture, tone, and surface detail are inherent to the process.

This piece suits a home puja room, a personal altar, or as a considered gift for occasions such as Varalakshmi Vratham, Diwali, weddings, or housewarmings.

How to Care For It

Wipe regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners, acidic solutions, or abrasive pads. For occasional deep cleaning, use warm water and mild soap — dry immediately after.

Brass and Panchaloha naturally develop patina over time. If you prefer the original finish, apply a thin coat of coconut oil monthly.
