Celebrate auspicious beginnings with this 3.5-inch Thiruvanaikaval-style Ganesha. Handcast in the traditional South Indian Panchaloha alloy (five sacred metals), it’s sturdy, devotional, and finished with a warm antique sheen. Inspired by the Jambukeswarar–Akilandeswari Temple style from Tiruchirapalli, Ganesha stands in a graceful posture with a signature long, curved trunk. The four arms hold classic symbols—pāśa (noose) and aṅkuśa (goad)—while the blessing hand offers protection and the other holds a sweet. Crisp detailing on the crown, ornaments, and temple-style base gives this compact idol a refined presence. Perfect for home puja shelves, office desks, and gifting for housewarmings, business openings, and Vinayaka Chaturthi. Place it in your sacred corner to invite wisdom, success, and steady protection. Note: At Cosmic Studio, every sculpture is individually handcrafted, ensuring no two pieces are exactly alike. Minor variations in color, texture, and detailing are a natural result of the artisanal process and are considered marks of authenticity. These unique characteristics, along with potential differences in lighting and screen displays, may cause the product to appear slightly different from the images shown.

About This Piece

3.5″ Thiruvanaikaval Ganesha | Handcrafted Panchaloha

This 3.5-inch standing Ganesha, cast in the Thiruvanaikaval temple tradition, measures 9cm in height and weighs 100 grams. It is made from Panchaloha, the traditional South Indian alloy of five sacred metals used in classical bronze casting, and finished to a warm polished sheen that is visible in the deep copper-rose tone across the figure.

The idol is handcast using lost-wax casting methods that follow South Indian sculptural conventions. The standing posture, four arms, and long curved trunk are characteristic of the Ganesha form associated with the Jambukeswarar–Akilandeswari Temple complex in Tiruchirapalli. Shaping a figure at this scale requires the craftsperson to compress considerable iconographic detail into a compact form — the crown, ornamental bands on the arms and legs, and the tiered rectangular base are all resolved with clarity. The long, downward-curving trunk is a defining visual feature of this regional form and has been rendered with deliberate attention to proportion.

The four arms carry the pāśa (noose) and aṅkuśa (goad), instruments that symbolise Ganesha's power to bind obstacles and direct the mind toward right action. As Vighnaharta, the remover of obstacles, Ganesha is invoked at the start of any significant undertaking — rituals, journeys, business beginnings, or construction. This theological role makes the standing form particularly appropriate for active, forward-moving spaces.

Panchaloha is an alloy with deep roots in Agamic temple practice. Its composition — typically gold, silver, copper, zinc, and iron in prescribed ratios — gives the cast metal density, structural integrity, and a tone that deepens with age. It has been the preferred material for consecrated icons in South Indian temples for well over a thousand years.

The polished finish on this piece produces the warm, burnished copper-rose appearance visible in the image, with subtle tonal variation across the raised surfaces. Because each piece is individually handcast and finished, minor differences in surface texture, metal tone, and fine detailing are inherent to the process and reflect the nature of authentic handcraft work.

This piece is suited for a home puja shelf, personal altar, office desk, or as a considered gift for a housewarming, business opening, or Vinayaka Chaturthi.

How to Care For It

Wipe regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners, acidic solutions, or abrasive pads. For occasional deep cleaning, use warm water and mild soap — dry immediately after.

Brass and Panchaloha naturally develop patina over time. If you prefer the original finish, apply a thin coat of coconut oil monthly.
