Panchaloha is a mixture of Copper, Zinc, Tin, Gold & Silver.

The form follows the canonical structure seen in South Indian devotional metalwork. The lingam itself rises with a smooth, rounded crown bearing subtle tripundra lines — the three horizontal marks associated with Shiva — rendered with quiet precision rather than embellishment. It seats firmly on an avudaiyar, the yoni base that in Shaiva iconography represents the union of Shakti and Shiva as the generative foundation of existence. The base carries layered lotus-petal relief work along its mid-section and an elongated spout — the gomukha — that projects outward with a clean, slightly upturned profile. The pedestal below is ringed with carved detailing, and the overall proportions closely follow the structural grammar of Chola-period temple lingams. At 650 grams, the piece has genuine weight and solidity for its compact dimensions.

The Shiva Lingam is one of the oldest and most continuously venerated forms in Indian religious practice. It represents Shiva in his formless, infinite aspect — not an anthropomorphic image but an abstract axis of consciousness and creation. Daily worship of the lingam, including abhisheka with water, milk, or sacred substances, is central to Shaiva devotion across India.

Panchaloha has been the prescribed material for consecrated South Indian idols for over a millennium. Its copper-dominant composition gives the alloy density, a warm reddish-brown tone, and resistance to corrosion — qualities that make it suited for ritual use and long-term preservation.

The polished finish brings out the alloy's characteristic warm copper-brown depth, with subtle tonal variation visible across the lotus relief and the lingam shaft.
