This handcrafted brass standing Gaja Lakshmi sculpture measures 15 inches (38 cm) tall, 11 inches (28 cm) wide, and 4.5 inches (11 cm) deep, weighing approximately 6.3 kg, and is finished in a polished treatment that brings a warm, even golden tone across the entire surface — from the ornamental prabhavali arch to the tiered stepped base.

The sculpture is cast in brass and finished by hand across an intricate, layered composition. Lakshmi stands in a gentle tribhanga posture atop a lotus pedestal, her four arms each carrying a lotus bud — two raised and two held closer to the body — in a configuration that requires careful modelling to maintain balance across the full vertical height of the figure. The face is calm and composed, framed by an elaborate crown and cascading ear ornaments. Across the torso, chest, waist, and lower garments, surface ornamentation is rendered in fine incised and relief work: layered necklaces, a broad waistband, and a draped lower garment with line detailing throughout. Flanking the figure at base level are two elephants, each bearing a small bowl, rendered with clear anatomical form and decorative trapping. The prabhavali arch that frames the entire composition is worked in two registers — an inner solid band and an outer openwork border of repeating carved foliate and bead motifs — surmounted by a kirtimukha face at the apex. The degree of open latticework within the arch reflects a demanding standard of hand-finishing.

Gaja Lakshmi — Lakshmi flanked by elephants — is one of the most widely recognized forms of the goddess of wealth, prosperity, and auspiciousness in Indian devotional tradition. The elephants in this iconography are understood as Indra's royal elephants, performing an abhisheka, or ritual anointing, that marks Lakshmi's sovereignty. This form appears in temple iconography and votive objects across centuries of Indian sculptural tradition and carries deep associations with abundance, well-being, and the sustaining order of the household.

Brass, an alloy of copper and zinc, has been used in Indian devotional and decorative objects for centuries. It accepts fine casting detail reliably, carries meaningful weight relative to its size, and provides a warm, durable surface that holds a polished finish without the brittleness of harder metals.

The polished finish produces a consistent golden tone across the sculpture, including the openwork arch, the deity figure, the flanking elephants, and the multi-tiered rectangular base with its engraved border registers. Handcrafted pieces carry natural variation in surface texture and tone across different areas of the composition.

This sculpture is well suited for a puja room, a home altar, or as a considered gift for housewarmings, weddings, and other occasions within Indian devotional practice. It also holds as a substantial collector's piece in classical brass iconography.

Note: At Cosmic Studio, every sculpture is individually handcrafted, ensuring no two pieces are exactly alike. Minor variations in color, texture, and detailing are a natural result of the artisanal process and are considered marks of authenticity. These unique characteristics, along with potential differences in lighting and screen displays, may cause the product to appear slightly different from the images shown.

Shipping & Care

How We Pack It

Every idol is individually wrapped in soft cloth and nestled in foam casing inside a double-walled corrugated box. We have shipped to 25+ countries without a single breakage complaint.

Orders are dispatched within 2-3 working days. Domestic delivery takes 5-7 days. International shipping takes 10-15 working days via tracked courier.

How to Care For It

Wipe regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners, acidic solutions, or abrasive pads. For occasional deep cleaning, use warm water and mild soap — dry immediately after.

Brass and Panchaloha naturally develop patina over time. If you prefer the original finish, apply a thin coat of coconut oil monthly.
