About This Piece

15″ Rishabadevar | Handcrafted Brass | Green & Gold Finish

This 15-inch Rishabadevar sculpture is handcrafted in brass and measures 15 inches in height, 6 inches in width, and 4.5 inches in depth, with a weight of approximately 3,900 grams. The figure stands in a composed tribhanga posture — a gentle three-point stance long established in classical South Indian iconographic tradition — with one leg slightly forward and the arms held in a relaxed yet deliberate position that conveys stillness and self-possession.

The sculpture is cast using traditional lost-wax or sand-casting methods, after which artisans work by hand to refine the surface detailing. The ornamentation is rendered with care: a layered turban crowns the head, the neck carries stacked ceremonial necklaces, and the figure is dressed in a detailed lower garment with a carved waistband and girdle. Anklets and armlets complete the iconographic dress consistent with classical representations of Jain Tirthankara figures.

Rishabadevar, also known as Adinatha, is revered in the Jain tradition as the first of the twenty-four Tirthankaras — enlightened teachers who have crossed the ocean of worldly existence and shown the path for others. His image is associated with renunciation, composure, and the earliest formulation of dharmic discipline. In classical sculpture, he is depicted with a composed expression and a posture that communicates inner equilibrium rather than dynamic action.

Brass, an alloy of copper and zinc, has been the material of choice for Indian devotional sculpture for centuries. It is valued for its density, its warm tonal quality, its workability under hand tools, and its long-term structural durability.

This piece carries a green patina finish with gold accents at the base and across ornamental details, achieved through a controlled surface treatment that references the aged appearance of antique temple bronzes. As with all handcrafted work, minor variation in surface tone, texture, and finish detail is inherent to the process and reflects the individual nature of each piece.

This sculpture is well suited to a dedicated puja space, a curated home interior with classical South Indian references, or as a considered gift for a collector with an interest in Jain iconographic tradition.

Shipping & Care

How We Pack It

Every idol is individually wrapped in soft cloth and nestled in foam casing inside a double-walled corrugated box. We have shipped to 25+ countries without a single breakage complaint.

Orders are dispatched within 2-3 working days. Domestic delivery takes 5-7 days. International shipping takes 10-15 working days via tracked courier.

How to Care For It

Wipe regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners, acidic solutions, or abrasive pads. For occasional deep cleaning, use warm water and mild soap — dry immediately after.

Brass and Panchaloha naturally develop patina over time. If you prefer the original finish, apply a thin coat of coconut oil monthly.
