About This Piece

12″ Graceful Lakshmi Idol for Pooja & Home Décor | Handcrafted Wood Carving

This 12-inch Goddess Lakshmi idol is hand-carved from Vaagai wood and measures 12 inches in height, 7.5 inches in width, and 2 inches in depth, weighing approximately 1200 grams. The piece depicts Lakshmi seated in lalitasana on a fully bloomed lotus, rendered with layered petal detailing that extends down to a tiered rectangular base. She is shown with four arms — the lower right hand extended in abhaya mudra, the lower left resting open in varada mudra, while the upper hands hold lotus buds. The expression is calm and composed, the face framed by an ornate crown with a rising finial.

The carving demonstrates considerable technical depth. The craftsperson has rendered fine striations across the garment folds, detailed jewelry across the neck and wrists, and textured patterning on the crown and bodice. The lotus seat and base carry their own layered relief work, including a carved floral motif at the front of the plinth. This level of surface articulation requires sustained hand-tool work across multiple stages — from rough shaping through to the fine detailing that defines the face, fingers, and ornamental elements.

Lakshmi is the presiding deity of wealth, material well-being, and auspiciousness in Hindu tradition. Her four arms are understood to represent the four goals of human life — dharma, artha, kama, and moksha. The lotus on which she is seated symbolises purity and spiritual elevation, and her posture in this form — seated, open-handed — represents grace extended toward the devotee.

Vaagai wood is a dense, close-grained hardwood that holds fine carving detail reliably and resists warping over time. It has a natural reddish-brown tone that deepens with age, making it well-suited for devotional sculpture that is meant to last across generations.

The piece carries a natural wood finish that preserves the material's inherent color and grain. As with all handcrafted work, each carving will carry its own minor variations in surface texture, tone, and detailing — no two pieces are identical.

This idol is suited for a household puja room, a home altar, or as a considered gift during Diwali, housewarming ceremonies, or other significant occasions.

Shipping & Care

How We Pack It

Every idol is individually wrapped in soft cloth and nestled in foam casing inside a double-walled corrugated box. We have shipped to 25+ countries without a single breakage complaint.

Orders are dispatched within 2-3 working days. Domestic delivery takes 5-7 days. International shipping takes 10-15 working days via tracked courier.

How to Care For It

Wipe regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners, acidic solutions, or abrasive pads. For occasional deep cleaning, use warm water and mild soap — dry immediately after.

Brass and Panchaloha naturally develop patina over time. If you prefer the original finish, apply a thin coat of coconut oil monthly.
