About This Piece

12″ Graceful Flute Krishna Idol for Pooja & Home Décor | Handcrafted Wood Carving

This 12-inch handcrafted wood sculpture depicts Lord Krishna in a standing posture, playing the flute, with a sacred cow positioned at his side. Carved from Vaagai wood, the piece measures 12 inches in height, 7.5 inches in width, and 3 inches in depth, and weighs approximately 1300 grams. The form is rendered in the round with a flat-backed panel structure and a carved decorative arch framing the figure from above.

The sculpture is shaped entirely by hand using traditional carving techniques. The level of detail across the surface reflects sustained skilled work — the dhoti folds, the layered ornamental jewelry, the crown, and the textured body of the cow are all carved with clarity and intention. The flute is held horizontally across the figure, with the hands positioned in the characteristic playing gesture. The face carries a calm, composed expression with defined features, and the four-armed iconographic form is rendered with balanced proportions. The base is tiered with carved ribbing and a central floral motif, following classical compositional conventions seen in South Indian devotional sculpture traditions.

In Indian tradition, Krishna with the flute — known as Venugopala — represents the union of music, nature, and spiritual devotion. The presence of the cow alongside him reinforces his identity as Govinda, the protector of cattle and keeper of abundance. This pairing is one of the most widely recognized expressions of Bhakti within Hindu iconography.

Vaagai wood is a dense, close-grained hardwood that has long been used in South Indian temple and domestic carving. It holds fine detail well, resists warping over time, and develops a warm, deep tone as it ages. The finish on this piece brings out the natural reddish-brown depth of the wood grain, giving the surface a rich, matte quality that reads as both antique and grounded.

Because each piece is carved individually, the texture, tone, and surface detailing will carry natural variation from one sculpture to the next. This piece is suited to a home puja room, a dedicated altar shelf, or as a considered gift for someone with a serious interest in traditional Indian craft.

How We Pack It

Every idol is individually wrapped in soft cloth and nestled in foam casing inside a double-walled corrugated box. We have shipped to 25+ countries without a single breakage complaint.

Orders are dispatched within 2-3 working days. Domestic delivery takes 5-7 days. International shipping takes 10-15 working days via tracked courier.

How to Care For It

Wipe regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners, acidic solutions, or abrasive pads. For occasional deep cleaning, use warm water and mild soap — dry immediately after.

Brass and Panchaloha naturally develop patina over time. If you prefer the original finish, apply a thin coat of coconut oil monthly.
