About This Piece

12″ Decorative Parrot Wall Brackets for Home Décor | Handcrafted Wood Carving

This pair of 12-inch wall brackets is handcrafted from Vaagai wood, each panel measuring 12 inches in height, 6.5 inches in width, and 1.5 inches in depth, with a combined weight of approximately 1300 grams. Each bracket features a centrally carved parrot rendered in a three-quarter profile, its beak slightly open, wings spread wide and layered with feather detailing that flows downward into scrolling foliage. The birds sit within a structured architectural frame — a carved cornice above and tiered base below — with a small brass bell suspended at the bottom of each piece.

The carving follows a style rooted in South Indian temple woodwork, where birds, particularly parrots, appear frequently as decorative and symbolic elements on pillars, doorframes, and mandapa brackets. Achieving this level of relief carving — where the parrot's form stands clearly distinct from the surrounding foliage — requires considerable skill in chisel control and surface reading. The scrollwork framing the body, the layered wing feathers, and the architectural cornice detailing are each worked separately before the piece is assembled and finished.

In Indian iconographic tradition, the parrot is associated with Kamadeva, the deity of love, and more broadly with speech, auspiciousness, and domestic harmony. Paired brackets of this kind have historically appeared at thresholds and interior sanctums, framing sacred or significant spaces within the home.

Vaagai wood, known for its density and fine grain, holds carved detail well and resists warping over time, making it a reliable material for both decorative and structural carving applications across South Indian craft traditions.

The antique colour finish applies layers of green, teal, red, and ochre across the carved surface, with a dark brown base on the frame that grounds the composition. Because each bracket is carved and painted by hand, natural variation in colour saturation, surface texture, and fine detailing will exist between pieces.

These brackets suit wall corners, entryways, and living spaces where a considered decorative accent is needed, and they also work well as a curated gifting piece for anyone who collects traditional Indian woodwork.

How We Pack It

Every idol is individually wrapped in soft cloth and nestled in foam casing inside a double-walled corrugated box. We have shipped to 25+ countries without a single breakage complaint.

Orders are dispatched within 2-3 working days. Domestic delivery takes 5-7 days. International shipping takes 10-15 working days via tracked courier.

How to Care For It

Wipe regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners, acidic solutions, or abrasive pads. For occasional deep cleaning, use warm water and mild soap — dry immediately after.

Brass and Panchaloha naturally develop patina over time. If you prefer the original finish, apply a thin coat of coconut oil monthly.
