This handcrafted Rishabadeva Shiva (Lord of the Bull) sculpture is a graceful Chola-style representation of Mahadeva – While most depictions include the physical presence of Nandi, this particular posture — where Shiva stands with his right hand naturally assumed to rest on the bull’s back — is an artistic rarity. This style is famously seen in South Indian bronzes of Rishabadeva with Sivagami, celebrated in renowned museums for their historic Chola craftsmanship. Even without Nandi present, the spiritual bond between Shiva and his bull flows through the sculpture, highlighting themes of discipline, guardianship, and dharma.

Shiva is portrayed with a dhoti tied high around his waist, his torso adorned with subtle ornaments, and his matted locks (jata) arranged in a turban-like crown — often interpreted as serpents woven into his hair. His face carries a serene and compassionate expression, radiating inner stillness and spiritual depth.
The elegant stance and flowing contours emphasize divine authority, reminding devotees of Shiva’s role as the destroyer of ignorance and the embodiment of timeless power.
